BUYING IN BULK MATTERS!

It may go without saying to the average person that you save when you buy in bulk, hence the reason Sam’s Club & Costco make a huge portion of their profits on membership fees. What about when you are the Retailer? I believe it definitely affects your ability to get in the door or be able to be competitive with the market when you are unable to secure a decent markup. The product will either sit because it’s overpriced or if it is purchased more than likely there will not be a repeat buy. 

One of the main purposes of a cooperative is to be able buy in bulk and have instant respect when we come to the market. It’s like with anything else the less you buy the more it costs. Imagine if you could still get the right amount of inventory for your location but at the price of a 10k or 50k unit order. That’s what cooperatives do. We pool our money together to make bigger purchases and/or investments. 

Minimum order requirements for purchase and/or for in-house customization can also be challenging when you have to also be concerned about the product shelf life and/or dilution of the product itself when ordering too much or too little. Additionally other concerns such as shipping times can also cause items which were considered hot a few weeks earlier are dead cold on arrival. These are some of the obstacles that are minimized when you are part of a cooperative. 

There are so many benefits of being a part of a cooperative and bulk buying, in my opinion, is one of the best parts!
